Temples of Guangzhou

Guangzhou is not a city noted for its temples but I have spent so much time there that I have accumulated a photo collection of the city's temples. The Guanxiao Si Temple is one of the oldest Buddhist temples in China. It has a nice miniature pagoda that houses the hair of Hui Neng, the 6th patriarch of the Chan (Zen) sect. The Liurong Si Temple has a well-preserved pagoda you can climb. The small Hualin Si Temple has a good collection of the 500 Lohan of the Chinese Buddhist religion. For a visit to an active Taoist temple try the newer Wong Tai Sin Temple.
