The book and photographs from the book were featured in an exhibition on the art of the protest movements of the 60's done by the Haags Gemeentemuseum in the Hague, 1971. |

The civil-rights movement was part of the protest and changes that marked the 60's. The Black Panthers were one of the more radical of black groups that was part of the 1960's protest. Their brand of radical politics and black power was frightening to many in the establishment and often led to conflicts with the authorities. Their politics advocated black pride, black power, and radical changes in the economic and social order. All photos are from Black Panther rallies in the San Francisco area.
